A Classy Red Wine!…A Lipcote Lipstick Review

November 5, 2015

Brand Name: Clarins

Lipstick Colour: Red Wine

Price: £18.50

Lipcote Rating: 5/5

This week we chose a lipstick from Clarins who’s lengthy description claims to be their first ‘age defying’ lipstick. We just had to indulge in the delicious shade Red Wine as its rich berry tone looks as tempting as an expensive glass of Merlot!

This particular range includes the Nutri-Youth Complex, a posh way of describing all the wonderful ingredients which help keep lips hydrated and therefore helps prevent signs of ageing. Upon closer inspection this is probably down to the mimosa, jojoba and sunflower combined with cocoa butter for ‘immediate suppleness and comfort’. We love that Clarins make the effort to provide a comprehensive breakdown of all the fantastic elements used in their products, and this lipstick really feels like a luxury formula with one swipe.

This intense colour would be a great introduction for dark lipstick first timers as the depth of this colour has the added benefit of luminous sparkles (but only tiny ones to avoid being tacky), which means the tone does not come across as too gothic or  draining against the skin.

The heavy gold packaging has a weighty snap shut sound to it, which also adds to the classy appeal of this high end lippy. A nice surprise when you open the lid is the blackcurrant-liquorice scent the bullet has, which further cements this lipstick’s reputation as a good quality product. We would definitely invest in this as the colour is classic enough to last you through the seasons but is very on trend for AW13. A great all-rounder, this lipstick has the potential to inject some winter glamour into any tired looking makeup bags! X
