Brand Name: M&S Limited Collection
Lipcote Rating: 3/5
We are happy to review the first lipstick from the M&S beauty range, more specifically from their Limited Collection which caters for trend led, affordable beauty products. We thought we’d give this darker version a try as Summer draws to a close, and Winter dressing is becoming more of a necessity!
Don’t be fooled by the deep shade of this colour, the sheer texture means this particular shade ‘Plum’, is a great Autumnal essential for even the most timid of dark lipstick wearers. The colour is a warm, chocolatey red with a slightly gloss finish that can leave it feeling a little sticky. The lightweight nature of this lipstick means that it can be built up to achieve a richer, pigmented look if you are keen for full impact, or worn sparingly for a chic daytime feel. This works with both blonde and brunette hair with equal appeal, and could easily suit a range of skin tones too. It therefore doesn’t really live up to its ‘colour intense’ description, but the hypoallergenic and paraben free qualities are a definite plus for sensitive skins.
We feel this lipstick would however be pretty messy without Lipcote, as its moisturising ingredients make it slide off the lips pretty easily. The straightforward click-shut packaging is sturdy and modern, with a nice see-through lid to save you having to open and inspect any other M&S lippies you may have already! Overall this shade would work well for those wanting to follow the trends and pick up on the berry or darker reds that will see you through to next year, or alternatively would suit a classic vintage look with a gothic twist.
Love, Lipcote X
