Bobbi Brown’s Art Stick range, exclusive to Selfridges, has gained almost instantaneous cult-status, and we can see why! We just had to indulge and picked the ‘Harlow Red’ shade to begin our love affair with these chunky, modern lip pencils.

What really ‘wowed’ us about the functionality of this stick is how quickly and precisely you can fill in a perfect opaque pout, using minimal product. This is music to the ears of anyone who doesn’t normally have time for lip pencils or lip brushes, as the perfect consistency of the pencil’s nib means you really don’t have to use much effort to look great. Also great if you’ve hit the snooze button too many times or need to switch up an outfit, fast!

The large, simple pencil shape of the product reminds us of colouring in pencils at school, yet the final mid-red effect is sophisticated and makes you feel very grown up; there’s nothing worse than looking like you’ve drawn your lippy on with a wobbly crayon, there’s no danger of that here.

The creamy matte finish and blue undertone looks soft and comforting on the lip, packed with emollients to maintain a smooth and kissable surface, especially with some Lipcote on top to keep the colour from transferring!

All in all, we were doubtful that this product could really make the top grade in terms of new beauty products out there. We were dubious about the appeal of a multi-functional ‘lipstick meets liner’ product over a trusty, red lipstick in a traditional bullet. We were wrong…5 stars to Bobbi Brown, and all hail the Art Stick! X
