YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture lippies have developed a bit of a cult fashion following, so we thought it was time we did an official Lipcote review!

We chose shade 08 Belle De Rose, a dark red-purple colour. It’s the perfect berry – rich, deep and warm with no brown undertones and a juicy mulberry hue. It’s darker than raspberry and not as purple as plum, which means it’s just light enough to not look gothic, although those with paler skin tones could probably blot quite a lot off to ensure it doesn’t look too dark. To our surprise it didn’t need lip liner, as it’s so pigmented that it almost acted as a stain. The formula is ultra creamy with a satin finish and the scent is a sweet fruity floral. And as you’d expect from YSL, the packaging is beautiful – an expensive looking gold squared-off tube and of course, the obligatory YSL stamp on the lipstick bullet itself. We absolutely love this colour, but you need to perfect your skin to wear it, as it’ll bring attention to any parts of the face that are red or purple such as red patches around the nose or dark under-eye circles. We like it paired with a lightly defined eye, plenty of mascara, and a plummy-toned blush to compliment the shade.

This lippie has impressed us! It’s done what no other lipstick could do, which was to produce our perfect berry lip colour. It’s on the expensive side, but we reckon it’s worth it, and using it with Lipcote will make it last all day giving you better value for money.

Love, Lipcote x
