Hi there Lipcote lovers! Daria here, Marketing & Social Media Assistant for Lipcote and general beauty obsessive.

I was lucky enough to attend one of the final summer festival shindigs last weekend, the one and only Bestival on the beautiful Isle of Wight. As it was my first time at Bestival, I was keen to explore the Robin Hill site and feast my eyes upon the many interpretations of their ‘Summer of Love’ theme. If you aren’t already clued up to the Bestival way of living, it’s a yearly tradition to conjure up wild and wonderful costumes based on different themes and this year’s did not disappoint!

My first thoughts on ‘Summer of Love’ were pretty obvious. I’m talking flowers in the hair, long floaty dresses and peace signs but makeup wise, this was a tricky one. Any stereotypical images of 60s flower child or ‘hippy’ that floated into my mind’s eye did not exactly involve a statement lip or a smokey eye. However, I was determined that my passion for Rimmel’s Provocalips range or YSL’s Rouge Pur lipstick were not going to be left by the wayside. My solution on the first day, along with my blonde bombshell bestie who goes by the name of Roz was to think ‘Rock Goddess’. This meant we could still wear our floaty capes and tasseled trims with pride.

To recreate my look you can use: – Sleek Makeup i-Divine eyeshadow palette in Au Naturel £7.99

Kitty false eyelashes by The Vintage Cosmetic Company £6.00

Rimmel Provocalips lip colour in Play With Fire £6.99

My second look of Bestival was on an entirely different idea. Saturday was nicknamed ‘Sequin Saturday’ by my girlfriends as we all donned our finest disco dresses and channeled Donna Summer and her ‘I Feel Love’ anthem (see where we’re going with this one?). A handy tip on day 2 or 3 of festival partying is to hide tired bags under the eyes with the sparkliest, glittery shimmer known to mankind! A distraction that’s for sure. Topped with a simple flower crown (to also hide any inevitable hair grease), you can re-create my look using the following:

MAC Powder Pigment in Violet (for eyelids and around the eyeline) £16.00

Benefit Coralista blush powder £23.50

Bourjois Rouge Edition velvet lipstick in Pink Pong £8.99

– Lipcote: not only to seal the lips, but another little trick is to dab a little on the back of any larger face gems to help them stick. Please remember to test a patch of skin before attempting this though, and do not use too close to the delicate eye area.

As we trekked around the fields we noticed a huge version of the #ElleBeautyCupboard, right by the main stage! Throughout the festival, Elle magazine in association with Rimmel offered 4 bespoke looks that their team would transform you with, all related to the Summer of Love theme. My definite favourite was their final feline flick and nude lip, as seen below.

Music wise, upcoming producer duo Jungle were one of our favourite acts of the weekend, with their uplifting vocal drenched grooves keeping us warm at their headline set. With an epic firework display rounding off a beautiful weekend, I can’t help feeling that Bestival is truly something special. 2016 earlybird tickets anyone?…. Love and lipstick, Daria x
