Shiseido is a Japanese beauty company, with the philosophy ‘True beauty is a harmony of spirit and form: an outer reflection of the inner self’. Their products are renowned for their typically Japanese roots in technology and science, and they are known with beauty editors for luxury skincare that really works.

We went for the shade ‘Cerise’, a fun, bold pink. The name is spot-on; a bright, sharp, true pink with equal red and blue tones. The texture is creamy and rich, and although it’s not a completely opaque lipstick, it’s very well pigmented which means that even with a single, sheer layer, you get great colour pay-off. This gives it a pleasantly light feeling on your lips, so it’s perfect for days when you want to look groomed but aren’t feeling up to a full-on matte lip. It’s a satin rather than matte finish, and this is partly due to the moisturising elements, but this didn’t interfere with Lipcote, and we ended up with a gorgeous glowy finish. There’s no fragrance, which is nice, and adds to the effortless feel that you get from this formula. The packaging is their signature dark purple, glossy tubes, with white branding on them – sophisticated and chic, although not as luxurious looking as some brands at this price point.

We love this lipstick, and it’s fast becoming one we turn to on a regular basis in the mornings to pull our look together quickly and with ease. The colour is flattering on most skin tones, and the finish is lightweight and comfortable.

Look out for it in this month’s Lucky Lipcote Draw!
