MAC’s Mineralize Rich Lipsticks are their newest formula, and we wanted to see how they compare to their classic lipsticks.

Lady At Play is a lovely bright orange-coral. On application we realised that it’s not nearly as pigmented as their classic lipsticks are, which is a shame as this colour could be really punchy. That said, it still has good colour pay-off for what is quite a sheer formula, and can be built up to be much brighter by applying, blotting, and repeating up to about 3 times. It’s not too greasy or shiny, although it does contain moisturising ingredients, so with a good blot, Lipcote worked well over the top to keep it locked in place for about 8 hours. It has the usual gorgeous MAC vanilla scent, and feels really comfortable on the lips, perhaps because of the thinner formula. Because of the sheerness of this lippie, it actually works really well for when you want some colour, but don’t want anything too bright, as it lets the natural texture of your lips show through whilst still giving a definite shade. And the packaging is a slight twist on the usual MAC tube – still the shimmery matte black but in a modern space-age shape with a cool magnetic shut mechanism!

We’re loving this lipstick as a great alternative to MAC’s usual ultra-pigmented ones for when you want something a bit more subtle, or for someone who needs easing into wearing bright lips! And of course, as usual, to win it plus a Lipcote simply enter via the Competitions App on our Facebook page!
