Brand Name: Revlon Matte Lipstick
Colour: Mauve It Over
Lipcote Rating: 4.0 / 5
We often find that Revlon’s lipsticks are of comparable quality to those from much more expensive and high-end brands, and their matte line has a great range of colours to choose from…
We chose a neutral called ‘Mauve It Over’. The name is cute and quirky, although we must admit; when we hear mauve we think of a greyish lilac-pink colour, which this lipstick is not. It’s a peachy-pink nude, and the formula is most definitely matte – we needed some lip balm underneath the lipstick for it to feel comfortable to apply, and not pull at the skin on our lips too much. The formula does seem pretty drying, although with Lipcote on top it was more satiny looking. This nude is really flattering – it has no grey or brown cast to it, and isn’t too light which can make skin looked washed out. It would be a great everyday lippie with natural makeup, but would also perfectly compliment a smoky eye for evening. The packaging is classic Revlon – sleek, understated while still being practical. We were a bit disappointed with the quality; the tubes seem to be a lot lighter weight than they used to be – it felt slightly flimsy when we were trying to apply the lippie, which makes the whole product feel cheaper.
Overall we like this lipstick, and at £7.49 it’s still great value! So look out for it in this month’s Lucky Lipcote Draw!
Love, Lipcote x
