The Creamy Matte Lip Colours are the newest addition to Bobbi Brown’s lipstick offering. The range was apparently inspired by the looks Bobbi was creating for Fashion Week shows, so there are some great, fashion-forward shades to choose from…

We chose Crushed Plum to test, as it’s the kind of colour we lean towards at this time of year. It is, as the name hints, a deep, rich purple shade, with neither warm nor cool undertones. The formula is creamy, and although it’s called matte we’d say it’s not as velvety as we expected, with a very slight sheen, but it’s the most matte lipstick type in her range. The pigmentation is excellent, only needing one sweep of lipstick for the full effect, so it’s not for shrinking violets! The moisturising element is comfortable and non-greasy, and makes the texture feel luxurious and lightweight. And we love the flat-topped bullet for precise application, essential for a lippie this bold! With Lipcote this literally lasted all day and evening, and we’d advise to really make sure you apply a line of Lipcote around the edge of the lips first, before filling in the rest, to stop the deep shade bleeding into fine lines and keep the edges looking clean and sharp.

Overall we’re thrilled that Bobbi Brown has branched out into what we feel are more modern, exciting lipsticks than some of her other more classic products. And this little luxury is going nowhere now we’ve found a comfortable spot for it in our makeup bag! As usual, don’t forget to look out for it in our lipstick giveaway over on our Facebook page!

Good luck!

Love, Lipcote x
