Soap & Glory is a brand we already love, with their kitsch retro aesthetic and humorous product descriptions, so when we found out they’d launched a cosmetics line, we couldn’t wait to try it out!

Can we just start by saying we love the name! The Mary Poppins tribute is clever, witty, and makes us feel happy every time we hear it! The shade we chose is called ‘Red My Lips’ and we assumed that being a vintage-styled brand with a red-named colour, we’d be getting a bold vintage red. So we were pretty disappointed when we opened it to find a pink. It’s a mid pink with red undertones, but most definitely not red. Although the shade itself is flattering, and would probably be less scary than a proper red for first-time red lippie wearers, the name ‘Red My Lips’ gave us the expectation of a fiery, 50’s inspired red.

Anyway, the formula is creamy and described as being infused with all kind of pout-plumping ingredients, which make it feel non-drying and really comfortable to wear. The packaging, although slightly plainer than we’d expect, is solid and good quality, and we’re suckers for little details like the embossed S&G logo on the lipstick bullet.

Overall it’s not quite what we were expecting, but still great quality at a fantastic price from one of our favourite high-street beauty brands.

Love, Lipcote x
